No matter how evolved you become you will still have challenges. But you can learn to look for the joy amidst them.
Joy. Laughter. Play. Lightness. They’re magnetic. They’ll help draw the right things and people to you.
We need to balance anything difficult we’re going through with stopping to enjoy life. We’re so privileged and we forget that life is a gift. That it’s meant to be enjoyed and celebrated.
When you follow joy and have fun, you’ll be a joy to be around. This energy will touch everyone you come into contact with. So following joy isn’t selfish or frivolous. It’s imperative if you want to make a positive difference in the world.
If we’re joyful and fulfilled people then we won’t ever want to hurt anyone else. We’ll just want to share our joy.
Joy isn’t the same as happiness – a fleeting state that comes when things are working out well, when our circumstances are as we’d like them to be. Happiness is usually based on external things falling into place.
But joy comes from within. It’s based on a deep gratitude for being alive and all that comes with it. Joy is child-like and has a twinkle in its eye. It comes from the heart.
Sometimes we lose touch with it. Because it comes from within us, from our bodies and we lose touch with them. We live in our minds and suppress our emotions. Our bodies get shut down. We no longer know how to feel. We try not to feel and we manage to avoid some of the more uncomfortable emotions, but in the process we also lose access to our joy.
But it’s never too late. Go on a deep dive for your joy! Don’t give up on it. It’s worth feeling the discomfort of anything you’ve been trying to avoid, that’s been too painful to face – fear, anger or grief – to get to the other side.
By letting these emotions flow joy will let us in on the secrets it has to offer.
Know that it’s waiting for you. That it’s within you, even if it’s buried deep. Know that finding your way back there is one of the best journeys you can take.
Just make it fun! Take it lightly. Be grateful. Joy will recognise all those things as itself.
Notice anything and everything that makes you feel joyful. That brings you alive and lights you up. This is your reason for being and is tied to what you’re here to offer the world.
So never deny your joy. It’s a gift: the gift you receive when you say yes to all of life. When you can embrace it all, joy will make itself known.
It’s also looking for you. You look for it and it’ll try equally hard to be found. It’s your present.
Joy is available to all of us in every moment, no matter what’s happening around us.
So don’t lose sight of that. Notice what sparks the recognition of joy within you and follow it. Follow it like your life depends on it. Because it does!
With love,
